Illegal entries are still present in border areas with Bangladesh although the authorities are trying to cover security over land and water along the border, said Union Minister Win Myat Aye for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in a workshop held at Park Royal Hotel in Yangon on May 6 and 7.

“The State Counsellor instructed the government to try to build fence along the border areas but it is not still completed,” he said.

In previous conflicts happened in Rakhine State, the offenders entered and left from the border areas and the government added a process to recheck them under the repatriation programme, he said.

“We need to verify them as it is our duty to divide them. What I mean is we cannot know who is innocent and who are making wrongdoings,” he said.

The national verification process is necessary for being citizens and it will be beneficial for the state. The government is carried out the verification process step by step to re-accept the returnees with dignity.
