Two COVID-19 suspect returnees from Thailand have been quarantined in Myeik and their lab results will be announced to the public, said Dr Thander Myo Win, Medical Superintendent of Myeik hospital.

Many returnees are arrived in Myeik and nearby villages and two people from Thamoke and Yaymyitgyi villages are sent to Myeik hospital on March 24 as they suffered cough and illness.

The patient from Thamoke Village is a COVID-19 suspect and another patient from Yaymyitgyi Village is under observation.

“The man lived in Yaymyitgyi Villa arrived back from Ranong on March 16 and he had no fever and cough at that time. On March 23, his body temperature was 99 degrees Fahrenheit and had a little cough. So he had been sent to the hospital. We had to have his chest x-rayed and tested his blood. The results are good. He had no sign of pneumonia. We will keep him in a 14-day quarantine. Another man, a 40-year old, is from Thamoke Village and he arrived in Myanmar from Prachuap Khiri Khan Province on March 21. He rode his motorcycle through Bokepyin Road. He got ill when he arrived home. A doctor from Thamoke station hospital cured him and his body temperature was 101 degrees Fahrenheit. He had no sign of difficult breathing. The doctor checked him again on March 24 and his body temperature went high. He had a little cough and was sent to the hospital. We x-rayed him and showed signs of lung problems. So we classified him as a suspect. We took samples from him and send it to the NHL,” said the Medical Superintendent.

“He arrived in Thamoke village with his four family members on March 21. He was sent to the hospital as he got ill next day,” said Htain Lin Aein, the village administrator.
