Bhamo District clash kills one and injures four including two children

Fighting has been intense due to the attack by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and PDF joint forces on army camps in Bhamo District, Kachin State, and within two days, a man was killed and four others, including two children, were injured due to the explosion of a heavy shell, sources said.

Those who helped said that a man was killed and two children were injured on the early morning of March 25 in Minjam Village, Momauk Township, Bhamo District.

On March 25, while the villagers are preparing to escape, a boy under ten years old and a girl over ten years old from a family were injured by a heavy shell fell into Minjam Village and a 30-year-old man died from a head injury, a local said.

"I don't have time to run. Most of the villagers are running from one village to another. Two children have been submitted to the hospital. The deceased was buried in the village," he said.

In addition, on the afternoon of March 26, those who helped said that two grandparents from Naung Lai Village, Bhamo Township, were taken to Bhamo Public Hospital due to wounds caused by heavy shell.

On March 21, two women from Minjam Village who were fleeing the war were killed and four others were injured when a heavy shell exploded in Hintha Village of Momauk Township.

As a result of the fighting in Bhamo District, nearly 3,000 war refugees from about 30 villages are still taking shelter in Bhamo town.
