Township USDP executive shot dead in Ayeyawady Region

An executive committee member of Kangyidauk Township Union Solidarity and Development Party in Ayeyawady Region was shot and killed on the morning of August 29, local sources say.

Township USDP executive U Maung Myint living in Oyinsu Street, Ward No.1, Kangyidauk, was shot in his chest by two unknown gunmen in front of Mingalaryama Monastery as he went on a motorbike to Kangyidauk Central Market. He was sent to Kangyidauk Peoples Hospital. But he died on the way.

 The case is still under investigation. It is true such an incident happened. It was done by terrorists. We are still investigating. We will let you know when we know, said a police officer from Ayeyawady Region Police Force.

The region has seen two shooting incidents including this one since the second week of August. The first shooting occurred in the town of Athok.
