Security and politics matter the most in peace process. If either of two sectors see no approvals, it will be difficult to work, said Colonel Khun Okkar, Patron of the PNLO.

The move came from the workshop on Security Sector in Federal States and Comparative Studies held at Green Hill Hotel in Yangon on June 11 and 12.

Peace process includes five sectors, security and politics of which matters the most. Therefore, they depends upon one another. If we see agreement in politic sector but disagreement in security sector, it will be difficult for us to work. That is why security sector should be understood a little, said Colonel Khun Okkar.

The IDEA organized workshops and conducting trainings on security  to the government, the Tatmadaw and Hluttaw groups in Nay Pyi Taw. Now this time the workshop was conducted with ethnic armed organizations (EAOs). If peace dialogue partners are equal level in studies and knowledge, later security sector will be easy a little, said Colonel Khun Okkar.

"Regarding this matter, which one is first changed, Constitution or security sector? Are both changed at the same time? These depend on experiences. We must think of the interest for the country. If the country changes from the dictatorship, what happens in the security sector? We are coming to explain how to change," said Colonel Khun Okkar.

The NCA-S EAO held the workshop with the aim of supporting the policies adopted for security, overcoming the difficulties blocked on the way to security and applying experiences to be suitable for Myanmar ones after learning international ones, said the NCA-S EAO in its statement on June 11.

The workshop was attended by the leaders of the NCA-S EAO and some secretariat members of the UPDJC of the NCA-S EAO.
