Myo Win appointed as judge of Union Supreme Court

Union Parliament has approved the appointment of Myo Win as judge of the Supreme Court of the Union nominated by the President as there was no objection.

Union Parliament Speaker T Khun Myat announced the approval during a parliamentary meeting held in Nay Pyi Taw on November 15.

Myo Win's nomination made by the President was announced at a meeting of Union Parliament held on November 12, and members of parliament were invited to enlist for the discussion of the nomination not later than 1pm on November 14 if they wanted to show objection in relation to the qualifications prescribed in Section 301 of the constitution.

Myo Win was born in 1960 in Kyaukchaunggyi Village, Pathein Township, Pathein District, Ayeyawady Region. He has got LL.B and C.B.L degrees. Currently, he is serving as an advocate.

According to Section 299, Sub-section (d) and under-subsection (1) of the constitution enacted in 2018, the President, in co-ordination with the Chief Justice of the Union, shall submit the nomination of the persons suitable to be appointed as the Judges of the Supreme Court of the Union to the Union Parliament and seek its approval.
