Mine attack occurred at the Kha Paung Bridge between Toungoo-Taung Taing Gone stations on the Yangon-Mandalay railway section and there have been 130 mine attacks in the area of the railway and train station in more than three years.

According to a report about a mine explosion occurred on the 680-foot-long iron bridge No. 263 (Kha Paung Bridge) between mile 164/12-13 between Toungoo-Taung Taing Gone stations in Toungoo Township, Bago Region at around 8:37 pm on March 12. It is known that the Toungoo-Taung Taing Gone railway section was temporarily closed at 6:00 am on March 13.

The local officials went to the place where the mine explosion occurred. Local security forces conducted a thorough inspection of the area and Myanma Railways staff inspected the strength of the bridge and the railway section. It was reopened at 7:25 am on March 13.

Although there was no major damage caused by the mine explosion, the Kha Paung Bridge that was detonated is a major bridge between Toungoo and Taung Taing Gone stations on the Yangon-Mandalay railway section. During the Yangon-Toungoo railway upgrade project, only the bridge can be used by trains, and if the bridge is damaged by the mine explosion, train traffic may be suspended.

From February 1, 2021 until now, there have been 130 mine attacks in the area of railways and train stations, 50 mine attacks on railway bridges and 12 arson attacks on station buildings and staff housings in the entire Myanmar railway network.

The government is trying to improve the infrastructure of the railways in order to facilitate the transportation of goods and people's travel and the projects that are upgrading the train transportation system, but the insurgents have causing damages to the state-owned locomotives, carriages, passengers and cargos, threatening the lives of the people and not traveling by train in addition to delay the Yangon-Mandalay railway upgrade project, according to the statement of the State Administration Council (SAC).
