A bridge on the Mandalay-Myitkyina railway between Htantabin Station and Nyaung Zin Station in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region was blown up on September 15 and cannot be repaired due to security concerns, said a station master from a nearby railway station.

The No.159 Bridge was located between Milepost No. 473/4 and 473/6.

"The mine damaged the bridge frame but the bridge was not damaged. Now the repair workers have not been able to go. The army is conducting an operation in the area. Nothing can be fixed yet. The road is not clear," he said.

Locals say there have been explosions along the railway in recent months.

A villager from Madaunghla said, “The train is a small train called RPG train running from Kyun Hla to Mandalay. It is carrying cargos and passengers. Sometimes people are scared as it is carrying soldiers onboard. They only have to rely on the rail transport here. The railroad was attacked in recent month. I can't say which group did it. Some said it was done by the PDF.”

After the political changes on February 1, blasts occurred at the Mae Za-Thae Chaung railway, Mohnyin-Nang Yin Chaung Bridge, Mawlu-Si Pin Bridge, No. 555 Bridge between Kadu-Mawhan railway station, Thawet Chaung Bridge between Hopin and Myitkyina and Wetkone Bridge outside Hopin.
