Myanmar’s Tatmadaw (military) has assigned respective civilian administrative bodies without direct involvement with State administration as ruling over the public through armed bullying and fear is unacceptable, said Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

He made the remark during his address at the meeting (15/2021) of the SAC held in Nay Pyi Taw on September 24.

The multiparty democracy is being exercised in Myanmar, which is a Union inhabited by all national races since yore. Myanmar, as a sovereign nation, has designated its boundaries with the neighbouring countries. All ethnic nationals need to live harmoniously together in the country with the same will and equal rights. Politicians with different ideologies over the peace issue need to cooperate with the government with a correct attitude towards the multiparty democracy, the Senior General said.

“Democratic system is usually adopted in a peaceful manner in the international community. Myanmar also wants to shape democracy peacefully. It is necessary to strive for a peaceful process. Armed bullying and governing with fear over the public not inconformity with democracy is unacceptable. Hence, the Tatmadaw does not directly get involved in the State administration and has assigned respective civilian administrative bodies,” he added.

When it comes to internal peace, the Prime Minister pointed out that the country has not enjoyed the fruit of peace cent percent since independence period. It is necessary to restore peace for ensuring a prosperous country. To be able to restore peace, people need to understand democracy and the prevailing conditions of the country. Democracy means the leadership of those elected by the majority of people under the law. But they also need to emphasize the will of the minority, he stressed.

“Since 2011, the country has been on the road to democracy with the establishment of various political parties. As we are in multiparty democratic system, there is no cause for political divisions. All can do politics under the law without any prohibition. It is necessary to apply the current political system correctly. If all the people cooperate with the government in this transitional period, everything can be done in a stable manner,” the Senior General commented.

He spoke of the need to ensure equitable development in all regions with emphasis on undertaking of development tasks in the states and other less developed areas. Efforts must be made for improvement of health, education, social and economic affairs of the local people as much as possible, he said.

He then took the view of solving the problems through armed struggle with disfavor.

However, such measures are necessary sometimes to ensure secure live and property of the people. Only when the country enjoys internal peace, can the multiparty democracy be peacefully achieved as the people aspire, he pointed out.
