A meeting was held on June 12 at the Mon Priyati Monastery in Mawlamyine to assist displaced individuals from 11 Mon villages in the Gai river basin.

The meeting aimed to understand the impact of the conflict on the Mon people, report on the activities of the established assistance group for internally displaced persons (IDPs), and gather opinions and suggestions for national-level rehabilitation efforts.

A member of the assistance group for IDPs stated that the group will implement processes across eight sectors. The eight sectors include financing, food support for IDPs, and education on leftover military equipment, information dissemination, and legal protection for local residents.

The group comprises Mon monks, the New Mon State, the Mon Unity Party, and Mon civil organizations.

As a relief organization, the group will also interact with other organizations and address future conflicts. "Depending on the situation, we will proceed according to each sector," the member added.

The meeting was attended by approximately 270 war-affected individuals, monks, and activists from 30 villages in Kyaikmaraw and Kawkareik Townships.
