The chairman of the Committee for Supporting Peace and Stability in Rakhine State said that an interim report about the suggestions by political parties, social organizations and experts to reduce armed conflict in the state has been submitted to the President.

Chairman Aye Tha Aung revealed the information during a committee meeting with the National League for Democracy, the township development affairs committee and persons who have experience in the Rakhine State affairs held at the state government office in Sittway on June 19.

"We will have to take a little more time to compile the final report because we have added more information to the interim report. But it won't be very long," said committee member and MP Maung Maung Ohn.

Aye Tha Aung said the final report will include the experienced people's suggestions about short- and long-term measures to be taken regarding civil war in Myanmar as well as the armed conflict in Rakhine State.

On the meeting held at the government office on June 18, the committee chairman called for cooperation in taking measures such as providing healthcare for people displaced by conflict, their requirements including shelter, and education of students to be pursued in safer places.

Chaired by Aye Tha Aung, the Committee for Supporting Peace and Stability in Rakhine State is formed with Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint and Rakhine State Chief Minister Nyi Pu as vice chairs and a deputy minister, the Rakhine state ministers for security and border affairs, the deputy chief of Myanmar Police Force Police Major General Aung Naing Thu and two Rakhine State MPs as members.
