Authorities arrest 9 Chinese and 38 Myanmar nationals for operating gambling ring at PAL Hotel in Mayangone Township

The State Administration Council (SAC) Information Team has reported the arrest of nine Chinese nationals and 38 Myanmar nationals involved in operating a gambling ring at PAL Hotel in Mayangone Township on May 10. This operation led to the confiscation of materials and cash related to gambling activities.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint security forces team from the Myanmar Police Force conducted a search at PAL Hotel located on Thiri Mon 10 Street in Thiri Mon Housing, Mayangone Township, on May 10. Among those arrested were Mr. Yang Jian, who managed the gambling activities on the hotel's second floor, along with 3 Chinese men, a Myanmar man and woman, 7 Myanmar men, and 24 women employed in the ring. Additionally, 5 Chinese men and one woman were apprehended for participating in the gambling, along with 3 Myanmar men and two women.

The authorities seized a range of items during the raid, including 38 mobile phones, 2 laptops, a tablet, a computer, a card with bank account numbers for money transfers related to gambling, a poker shredder, a money counting machine, a CCTV recorder, cash used in gambling, and 17 vehicles, as reported by the State Administration Team.

Those arrested, including Mr. Yang Jian and 8 Chinese men and one woman, Win Myint Tun, and 11 men and 27 women from Myanmar, totaling 47 individuals, have been charged at the Mayangone Township Police Station. Further investigations into the matter are ongoing.
