Freedom of politics and education are prevailing across the country, said Nyan Win, CEC member of the NLD and Secretariat Member.

The remarks of the Secretariat Member came from his speech to the ceremony of the 98th Anniversary of National Day at the Headquarters of the NLD in Yangon on November 2.

Today’s national day ceremony is the one that the national sign and the public symbol are well-matched as it is held in the time of civilian government elected by the people. In other words, not only political freedom but also educational are prevailing across the nation. The national education is heading to democratic education system, said Nyan Win.

In accord with the globalization age, the government is building an educated society while it is making conscious efforts to be rich in human resources based on education investment. The new generation youths and the entire people are trying their best to stand tall among the world nations while preserving national prestige as the national concern, said Nyan Win.

With the leadership of 11 university students in 1920s, the British restricted freedom of education to the university students as to the national education system. The British issued Yangon University Act designing colonial education. The strike against Yangon University Act spread all over the nation.  The different national races, monks, students and the people actively participated in the strike. It is the first historic record of Myanma independence history, the statement marking the 98th Anniversary of National Day said.

The first students’ strike igniting anti-colonial education continued in 1936 and 1938. It changed into the 1300 Revolution. Doebamar Asiayon emerged together with the move of anti-colonial education. Doebamar Asiayon gave birth to new future leaders such Ko Aung San as, Ko Nu, Ko Ba Hein, Ko Thant and Thein Pe Myint, the statement said.

The People’s Party and the NLD emerged from the 1988 Uprising have secured the right to build a new democratic country to meet with the desire and the hope of the people. They are still trying to make Myanma society reach an independent and fair community. It is now the time to seek a solution of new culture based on mutual respect as to national reconciliation, peace and federal democracy, the statement said.
