Two PDF members and two passengers were killed and five passengers were injured during the exchange of fire at the Ayeyawady Bridge (Yadanabon) checkpoint in Tagong Ward, Sagaing City, Sagaing Region on August 17, said Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun, leader of the information team of the State Administration Council (SAC).

Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun said at the 19th press conference of the State Administration Council held on August 17 in Nay Pyi Taw.

Arkartha passenger bus (Express) running between Yangon and Monywa was stopped and inspected at 8:25 AM on August 17, and three PDF members on the vehicle started shooting with small arms causing two security personnel injured. Two PDF members were captured dead in the attack, one was captured alive, and three pistols were seized, said Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun.

In this incident, a male passenger was killed and a female passenger was hit on the right leg and died due to shock. Five other passengers were injured, he said.

He said the authorities interrogated one PDF member captured alive and seized three new assault rifles and ammunition hidden in the bus.
