Fighting broke out between Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Shan State Progressive Party/Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA) when some officials of the SSPP went to inquire about the arrest of Sai Maung Ohn, a Shan youth from the Sae Luang Village of Sae Luang village tract in Muse Township, northern Shan State, announced the SSPP/SSA.

On the morning of November 7, the TNLA forces operating in the village of Sae Luang, Muse Township, had captured Sai Maung Ohn, a resident of Sae Luang Village. When asked about that, the TNLA with about 100 members surrounded the SSPP unit and started firing, so the battle took place. A township commander and a soldier from the SSPP were captured and shot dead during the fight, announced the SSPP.

The TNLA has yet to release any information about this incident.

Shan Youth Network has announced that Sai Maung Ohn, who was arrested by the TNLA, is a member of the leadership of the Myanmar Shan Youth Network, as well as the person who tried to organize the National Ethnic Youth Conference (NEYC) held in Panglong in 2017, and who has been consistently helping local social work.

In addition, Sai Maung Ohn was arrested by the TNLA while he was making preparations to shelter people fleeing the war in Sae Luang Village, Muse Township, where he lives, according to the Shan Youth Network.

The Shan Youth Network of Myanmar has issued a statement that Sai Maung Ohn is not affiliated with any organizations during the armed conflict in northern Shan State and is only doing humanitarian aid work. In view of the unity of the twin ethnic groups, the TNLA group has been request to release Sai Maung Ohn as soon as possible.
