Drone attack near proposed airport construction site in Mon State

On the morning of April 6, a drone carrying explosives detonated near the proposed construction site of a new international airport in Kawparan village, Mudon township, Mon State. 

The incident occurred while Deputy Prime Minister General Mya Tun Oo who is also Union Minister of Transport and Communications and one of the SAC members, deputy minister Aung Kyaw Tun, Mon State Chief Minister Aung Kyi Thein and his cabinet members were present at the site.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or damage resulting from the drone attack.

The responsible armed group behind the attack remains unknown.

In response to the incident, security forces conducted tight checks in Mudon and Mawlamyine townships in Mon State.

The SAC information team has not yet released any official statements regarding the drone attacks.
