The branch manager of the Global Treasure Bank on Maungmakan Road in South Dagon Township was shot dead in front of the bank at around 9 am on April 18, according to residents near the bank.

The Global Treasure Bank (Kantha Branch) was located near Bonegyikyaungkway traffic lights at the corner of Maungmakan Road and Hlawkar Road and the bank manager, U Saw Moe Win, was shot on Maungmakan Road in front of the bank.

A resident of Maungmakan Road said, "It is true that he was shot. He was shot dead in front of the bank. He stopped the robbers when he arrived at the bank. The robbers shot him."

The decease stopped and grappled with the robbers as they were preparing to rob the Global Treasure Bank (Kantha Branch) in front of the bank. The robbers shot him and escaped using a vehicle.

Two gunshots were heard and the bank manager was rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds but later he died.

The bank was temporarily closed due to the incident.
