Ayeyarwaddy River water level in Bhmaw and Shweku is well pass over their danger level and a total of 27 schools have been closed and thousands are being evacuated due to flooding.

In the evening of July 15, Ayeyarwaddy River water level in Bhamaw reached 1212 cm than  its danger level of 1150 cm. At present, 16 villages and 5 wards in the low lying areas are being flooded.

"In Bhamaw, there are more than 1300 flood victims here excluding victims from villages. Flood victims are temporary sheltering at monasteries and schools," said Tu Tu Mar from Bamaw Township general administrative office.

"The people in our ward are leaving to Shwe Kyaung monastery. There are more than 80 people. Flood victims in Minsi and Yayle monasteries are also faced hardships as water entered monasteries. Some don't abandon their homes as they are in fear of losing their property. So, they lived at the roof of their houses. Government, political parties and military came to rescue us yesterday. But, there are many villages need to do evacuation works," said Ko Chita from Bhamaw.

In Shweku, Ayeyarwaddy River water level on July 15 evening reached 978 cm over the danger level of 930 cm.

At present, Shweku-Bhamw road is flooded and vehicles are inaccessible. In 5 flood shelters, there are nearly 400 people sheltering there while 9 schools were closed.
