Published 12 February 2024

Starting February 15, passengers traveling from Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State, to Yangon Region are required to submit an air travel permit to the District General Administration Office.

This regulation applies to all passengers except those with poor health, students, and departmental staff.

Passengers who have already purchased tickets must also visit the Kyaukphyu District General Administration Office to request the necessary travel permit.

Additionally, air ticket shops in Myeik Township, Taninthayi Region, can only sell tickets with the approval of relevant administrators.

Passengers who purchased E-Tickets must bring the relevant permissions to the airport. The Kyaukphyu township is strictly prohibited from selling air tickets to unauthorized passengers.

"When locals coming from Myeik to Yangon buy the air tickets, it is necessary to bring the endorsement of the relevant administrators’ permission. Passengers who are arriving in Myeik from Yangon or other cities will be able to purchase air tickets as usual. The Kyaukphyu township of Rakhine State is not allowed to sell air tickets to passengers other than those who have been approved," a spokesperson from the domestic airline told The Daily Eleven newspaper.
