Advocate Ywat Nu Aung charged with Counter-Terrorism Law

After advocate Ywat Nu Aung from Mandalay Region had been detained, she is being charged under Counter-Terrorism Law, according to the sources.

Ywat Nu Aung was one of the members of National League for Democracy (NLD) so also she was NLD’s legal advisor. She was arrested at night of April 27th after leaving the trial of former cabinet members of Mandalay Region Government Committee including Dr. Zaw Myint Maung.

“We knew that she[Ywat Nu Aung] is currently being held on remand at the Township Court aiming for charging with Counter-Terrorism Law. So, we don’t know about remaining facts,” said a lawyer.

Ywat Nu Aung also acted as a member of NLD’s Winning Committee on General Election-2020 representing Mandalay Region. Moreover, she acted as a lawyer of some NLD’s members and former cabinet members of Mandalay Region Government Committee including Dr. Zaw Myint Maung who were charged under Anti-Corruption Law, Section 505 and Natural Disaster Management laws.
