The Arakan Army (AA) is encountered with soldiers in sentry duty and retreated while they are approaching in unguarded moment to attack an army headquarters based near Mrauk-U in early morning of April 20, announced the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services on April 20.

The security forces conducted an operation along the area where the AA approached the base and found a body of AA member, a hand grenade, a man-made mine and other ammunitions, it said.

The AA is plotting sniper attacks and setting mines in Mrauk-U to make instability in the area and the security forces are cooperating with administrative bodies in towns, wards and villages and locals to maintain stability in the area, it said.

Moreover the AA is using towns, wards and villages as their barriers to approach to attack army bases near the towns and villages. They are fabricating news in order to trick people while the army attacked back at them, the announcement said.
