The Arkan Army (AA) attacked border outposts in Dompeik and Changkhali villages of Rathedaung Township, Rakhine State, this morning and the entry and exit of Sittwe Township have temporarily been closed, local sources say.

Border guard stations situated on the road leading from Yaychanpyin village in Sittwe Township to Maungdaw Township were attacked. There are already government troops on the side of Yangon-Sittwe Union Road, and AA already has their camps. Although AA was on Maungdaw’s side, but it is now fighting for more dominance. The number of Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) will increase,” said one of the locals.

At present, some local news outlets have reported that the AA group has entered and controlled the Dompeik border police station, but the Eleven Media Group has not yet varified it independently. The military has temporarily closed the checkpoints on Yangon-Sittwe Road including the entry and exit of Sittwe.

The local news agency Nira Nsari reported that an army convoy was hit by a mine on the Union Highway near Pha Pyu (Lower) Village of Min Pya Township of Rakhine State on November 8 and a clash between the military and AA is taking place.
