According to initial reports, an explosion occurred at an elementary school in the Ashaytpyin ward in Dawei on June 4 and some elementary school-aged children were injured and killed.

A resident of Dawei said that the explosion took place during the school lunch break.

"I heard that more than 20 children were injured, and three of them died. The exact details are not yet known," the local added.

The primary school-aged children who were injured by the explosion were transported to the public hospital in Dawei by local social organizations and rescue associations and residents.
