31 COVID-19 patients recover

Yangon—The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients has reached 31 as Case-14, 18 and 90 tested negative twice for the virus, according to the statement by Ministry of Health and Sports on 1 May.

The ministry conducted 196 tests on 1 May. All samples tested negative for the virus.

Ten recovered patients (Case-2, 8, 32, 33, 38, 41, 47, 50, 54 and 58) have been discharged from the hospitals, taking the total number of discharged patients to 27.

The discharged patients are being quarantined at home or at designated places.

Two out of 118 confirmed patients are under intensive care. Till noon of 1 May, 85 new patients under investigation (PUIs) are recorded.

Till date, there have been 151 confirmed patients and six deaths in Myanmar.

Regarding the spread of news that Pastor David Lah who faces the lawsuit for defying COVID-19 ban is among the discharged patients, Daw Moe Moe Su Kyi, Yangon Region Minister for Immigration and Human Resources said: “I don’t know whether he is included in the list or not. Those who broke the laws shall face lawsuits. He will go home after having been discharged from the hospital. At present, we need to give more priority to the health matter rather than action taken. He will be in home quarantine though he has been discharged from the hospital.”
