Portable gas stove fire destroyed shops in Mandalay, sources said.

A 15-foot x 15-foot, single-story house with a corrugated iron roof, a wall and a wooden floor, located between 66th and 68th streets and 28th and 30th streets in Chanayethazan Township, Mandalay, was caught fire at around 9:45 am on January 10 when the fire from a portable gas stove, used to boil eggs, spread to the wall, according to the Myanmar Fire Services Department (MFSD).

The fire destroyed a 60-foot x 15-foot one-story house with four-room and its belongings.

Two fire engines from Chanayethazan Township Fire Station, one fire engine from Kisamahi Fire Station, one fire engine from Sittara Mahi Auxiliary Fire Station, and one fire engine from Pat Kone Area Auxiliary Fire Station, one fire engine from Hemazala Auxiliary Fire Station, one fire engine from Kankauk Auxiliary Fire Station, one fire engine from Pyigyi Myatshin Auxiliary Fire Station, one fire engine from Pyigyi Myatman Auxiliary Fire Station, one fire engine from Mahaaungmye Township Fire Station, one water bowser from West Pyigyi Pyawbwe Auxiliary Fire Station, one water bowser from Pyigyi Myatshin Auxiliary Fire Station, one water bowser from Ye Mon Taung Auxiliary Fire Station, one water bowser from Aungmyethzan Township Fire Station, one water bowser from Mahaaungmye Township Fire Station, and three administrative vehicles, 30 firefighters, 70 auxiliary fire brigade personnel were dispatched to extinguish the fire and the fire was brought under control at 9:59 am and extinguished at 10:03 am.

A case has been opened at No.3 Police Station under Section 285 of the Penal Code in connection with the fire.
