The Myanmar Agricultural Development Bank (MADB) has disbursed more than K16 billion in monsoon agricultural loans to nearly 10,000 farmers across over 60,000 acres in Shan State as of July 17, 2026, according to the bank’s Shan State branch.

Shan State Manager U Ba Kyaw Tin said the bank provides three types of seasonal agricultural loans each year—monsoon, winter, and pre-monsoon—with monsoon loans accounting for the largest share. The current lending program runs from May through September.

The majority of loans have been issued in southern Shan State, particularly in Yatsauk Township, where farming activity is highest.

U Ba Kyaw Tin urged farmers and business owners to maintain proper land ownership documents, comply with relevant agricultural laws, understand banking requirements, and keep accurate financial records to improve access to bank financing.

He added that while Shan State previously had no outstanding agricultural loan repayments, limited arrears have recently emerged due to ongoing instability, mainly in Mogok, Pekon, and a few townships in northern Shan State.
