The official visit of President U Min Aung Hlaing to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, at the invitation of President Mr To Lam, was a political, diplomatic, and economic success, according to Presidential Spokesperson Dr Khaing Khaing Soe.

Responding to media queries on the trip’s key achievements, Dr Khaing Khaing Soe outlined three main outcomes: consolidating existing friendship and mutual trust, securing mutual economic benefits, and committing to mutual backing on regional and international stages, with Viet Nam affirming full support for Myanmar’s position within ASEAN and global forums.

She highlighted the establishment of a two-year diplomatic roadmap to deliver practical benefits to both peoples. Additionally, both sides discussed enhancing regional connectivity by linking Viet Nam’s access to the Pacific with Myanmar’s gateways to South Asia and the Indian Ocean. Through transit routes traversing Viet Nam, Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar, the initiative aims to facilitate East–West transit trade, with the Vietnamese President agreeing in principle to conduct joint studies on developing these regional economic corridors.
