Ward and village administrators in Taunggyi attend four-week capacity-building training

Taunggyi - A four-week capacity-building training program is being conducted for ward and village tract administrators in Taunggyi Township to strengthen their administrative skills and improve local governance, according to the Township General Administration Department.

A total of 75 ward and village tract administrators from across Taunggyi Township are participating in the training. The department said the program is designed to enhance the knowledge, competence, and professionalism of local administrators, who play a fundamental role in the country's administrative system. The training aims to equip participants with the skills needed to uphold the rule of law, maintain peace and stability in their communities, promote good governance, and implement people-centered local development initiatives in accordance with existing laws and regulations.

Officials added that the course also seeks to foster public trust by developing capable and responsible local administrators. According to the Township General Administration Department, the training has four main objectives: To uphold the principles of safeguarding national unity, preserving ethnic solidarity, and protecting national sovereignty, to improve participants' understanding of government policies and objectives so they can effectively support regional development, to strengthen the implementation of people-centered good governance and to enhance coordination between higher-level government authorities and local communities by enabling administrators to serve as an effective bridge between the two.

The course will be held for 4 weeks from July 1 to July 28. During the course, subjects such as the policy objectives of the state government, laws and regulations implemented by the General Administration Department, main business responsibilities such as to excise management, information on laws, collection of (4) types of taxes, village laws and regulations, reorganization of cities/wards/village tracts/villages, land management, gambling laws, leadership responsibilities, office manuals, methods of accounting and maintaining office expenses, issues related to the formation of associations, rural development, population, birth/death issues, and issues related to issuing billiard licenses will be taught, as well as subjects related to 15 other departments related to the General Administration Department, according to the press release.
