Korean Air, which is operating daily flights to Yangon from Seoul, is scheduled to change its direct flight between Seoul and Yangon to four times a week starting from March 3 due to COVID-19 virus outbreak in South Korea, according to Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Although aviation authorities haven’t announced the restrictions on airlines flying from other countries including China, only six out of 15 Chinese airlines are operating now, according to the Department for Civil Aviation (DCA).

“We instructed international airlines flying over Myanmar to make their passengers to fill in health decelerating forms as we are a member of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and we follow the instructions of World Health Organization (WHO) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO),” said an official from the DCA.

The DCA is following the instructions from the WHO and ICAO to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in international airports and domestic airports in a timely manner, according to Ministry of Transport and Communications.

The DCA instructed Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) and Myanmar Airways International (MAI) to suspend their chartered services to China to prevent the 2019 Novel Coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, China.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) issued an electronic bulletin to its member countries and instructed the pilots to inform the respective air traffic control tower if the passengers with suspected coronavirus symptoms are included in their planes.
