Ywarthagyi dry port located near the Ywarthagyi train station in East Dagon Township has finished constructing and will be opened on November 11, sources said.

Myanma Railways (MR) said containers from Yangon ports will send directly to middle areas of Myanmar with freight trains.

The MR took a trial test to run No.923 freight train from Ywarthagyi dry port on October 12.

Two companies: KMT Terminal & Logistics Limited and Resource Group Logistics Co. Ltd. are building two dry ports on a land space owned by the MR under build, operate and transfer system in Ywarthagyi. They are expected to cost over US$50 million and the construction works of dry ports are finished.

Freight trains will be running between Thilawa, Ywarthagyi and Myitnge if two dry ports are finished.

More than 200,000 containers can be stored in two dry ports and it can reduce the traffic jam between Thilawa industrial port and Yangon downtown area.

An international standard logistics hub will be built in 59 acre space of land in Hlaingthayar Township in Yangon region to preserve the export quality and reduce the expenses, according to Ministry of Commerce.
