YBS bus rams into taxi driver, killing him in Mingalardon Township

A No.43 YBS bus rammed into a taxi driver near Shwbwar Gyi Gone bus terminal in Mingalardon Township, Yangon Region, around 7:30 am of November 3, and the taxi driver died on the spot, according to local social welfare organizations.

“We received information that the body needed to be taken after the car accident. So, we went to the scene where the parts of body were scattered. But, we didn’t know exactly about the accident. Nevertheless, we collected the parts of the body and we didn’t look at the face because the face and head were smashed. We sent the body to the Insein People’s Hospital,” said an unidentified official from a social welfare organization.

The news spread on social media that the victim was a taxi driver. The YBS bus rammed into the taxi near the Sawbwar Gyi Gone bus terminal on the morning of November3. So, the taxi driver got out of the car and said about the collision. Meanwhile, the YBS bus hit the taxi driver and ran away.

The daughter of the victim wrote on her Facebook that the YBS driver was hiding after the accident.

The relevant authorities confirmed the car accident. At that time, the taxi driver planned to inform the accident at the nearby traffic-police force. But, he was hit from behind by the YBS bus.

“When we heard about the news, we couldn’t believe it. I think he [the husband] got minor injuries. Later, we knew that the YBS bus collided with my husband’s taxi and the headlights of taxi were broken. So, my husband told about the accident to the YBS bus driver. However, my husband was rammed from behind by the YBS bus. The parts of body were scattered. The passengers on the YBS bus witnessed the case. Now, no one from the YBS bus line has settled the case,” said the wife of the taxi driver.

The YBS driver is still at large. The funeral of the taxi driver was held on November 4.
