On the morning of May 28, the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) conducted a raid near the Sentul area, resulting in the arrest of 123 foreigners, including 95 Myanmar nationals, for illegal residence.

The raid, which took place at 1 a.m., was carried out based on information that foreigners were residing in the area without proper documentation. Upon inspection, it was found that the group of 123 foreigners included seven Indonesians, 21 Indians, and 95 Myanmar nationals.

According to the Malaysian Immigration Department, the foreigners had rented houses from local residents, who had also supplied them with electricity. The illegal residents reportedly paid a monthly rent of RM 400 and were engaged in various economic activities in the area, with some even owning their own grocery stores.

During the raid, authorities reported that some individuals attempted to evade arrest by hiding on rooftops or locking themselves in their homes.

The arrested individuals will face prosecution under the Malaysian Immigration Act 1959/63.
