As the number of infected patients in Yangon Region drops within days, Yangon Region closed its two COVID-19 treatment centers in Yankin Education College and Cultural University since December 24 according to Professor Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, vice-chair of Yangon Region COVID-19 Prevention and Control, and Treatment Coordination Committee.

“As there are 369 patients today and it’s been 4 or 5 days the infected numbers are below 400. Therefore, we are to close two COVID treatment centers as a stand by situation,” said Dr. Zaw Wai Soe.

The Coordination Committee has planned to close some COVID centers in Yangon as the numbers of infected patients have dropped down. Among the over 1000 beds prepared for COVID patients, more than 700 patients are being treated in other centers in Yangon Region.

Yangon Region has more than 80,000 infected patients and Mingalardon and North Okkalapa Townships have the most infected numbers according to Ministry of Health and Sports.

After December 20, there are 30 to 50 infected rates in Yangon Region and 10 tp 20 percent suffered loss of smell according to Ministry of Health and Sports.

As the doctors, nurses and volunteers are tired of giving treatment and helping to patients, and the drops of rate in Yangon Region continued, we have planned to closed the centers continued Dr. Zaw Wai Soe
