Authorities extend Mawlamyine-Yangon train schedules following Kyoneeike Bridge demining

Yangon-Mawlamyine train services will be extended from May 13 after the demining of the Kyoneeike Bridge on the Yangon-Mawlamyine road, according to Mawlamyine Station.

In addition to the regular 8:30 am train, the Yangon-Mawlamyine train schedule has been expanded to depart at 9:15 am.

Similarly, in addition to the regular Yangon-Mawlamyine train schedule at 6:15 am, an additional train schedule will be run at 7:30 am.

For the extended train journeys, the ticket must be purchased one day in advance, and the express train tickets that are running as usual are sold from 7 am to 12 pm and from 1 pm to 3 pm. Express train tickets can be purchased three days in advance and regular train tickets can be purchased one day in advance, announced the Mawlamyine Station.

On the early morning of May 11, the Kyoneeike Bridge on the Yangon-Mawlamyine Road between Thaton Township and Bilin Township was detonated and destroyed.

The Kyoneeike Bridge on the Yangon-Mawlamyine Road was destroyed by a mine, so vehicles are currently traveling through village roads.Ttraffic congestion is occurring due to the narrowing of the road and the accumulation of vehicles, according to the travellers.
