The State Administration Council (SAC) announced the seizure of 500 kilograms of methamphetamine (Ice) and 200 kilograms of ketamine, valued at K5.7 billion, in Kengtung Township, Shan State (East).
A combined team from the Anti-Drug Police Force intercepted a Toyota Hilux traveling from Kengtung to Tachilek at the junction of the detour and Kengtung-Tachilek road at 2 pm on June 8.
The driver attempted to flee, causing the vehicle to overturn near Gyophyu village. The police arrested Myo Ko (aka Myo Gyi), who was accompanying the driver, but the driver managed to escape.
Upon searching the overturned vehicle, authorities discovered 500 kilograms of Ice and 200 kilograms of ketamine.
Following an interrogation, they apprehended Htet Kyi Soe, the car owner and accomplice in the drug transport, at his residence in Ward 3, Kengtung.
Further investigation led to the discovery of a 10-wheel Nissan Diesel vehicle used to transport the drugs from Kunhing to Kengtung. This vehicle was found in front of the bus station compound in Yanlaw village, Kengtung Township.
It was revealed that the drugs were intended to be transported from Kunhing to Tachilek.
Legal action has been initiated against the offenders, and an ongoing investigation is underway to apprehend other individuals involved in the case.
