Waste-to-energy plant in Hlawga generates 760 kilowatts of electricity

A power station in Hlawga, Yangon Region, can produce up to 760 kilowatts of electricity by burning 60 tons of waste per day, according to the Information Ministry.

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Ye visited the station and inspected its functioning on June 11. The plant in Shwepyithar Township, Hlawga, produces 760 kilowatts of electricity at the most by burning 60 tons of waste per day. Of this amount, 400 kilowatts is used by the station itself and 300 kilowatts distributed daily on average.

The minister then went to Taikkyi Township to inspect the 50-acre nursery where various kinds of plants are grown to support ecosystem. He called for concerted efforts for the conservation and protection of forests.

The minister then went around observing the 50 kinds of rapidly growing trees and saplings.
