Voters living in the townships where the stay-at-home order is imposed for Covid-19 prevention and control are allowed to go to the polls with an exception for the success of the 2020 general election, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Health and Sports on October 25.

The ministry has been taking Covid-19 prevention, control and treatment measures as Myanmar increasingly sees Covid-19 cases including many cases in the community in a short time. It therefore issued stay-at-home orders three times on August 26, September 20 and October 19.

The state-at-home order is still being imposed in all the townships of Rakhine State, all the townships but Coco Island Township of Yangon Region, Mawlamyine and Bilin townships of Mon State, Mahaaungmyay, Chanayethazan and Amarapura townships of Mandalay Region, Kawa, Bago and Thehnetpin townships of Bago Region, Pathein, Pyapon and Maubin townships of Ayeyawady Region and Hpakant and Moenyin townships of Kachin State.

The ministry however has allowed the voters living in those stay-home townships to go to the polls with an exception on the election day for the success of the 2020 general election to be held on November 8.
