UWSA orders lockdown in Panghsang to prevent COVID-19 outbreak

Panghsang, headquarter of United Wa State Army (UWSA), will be placed on lockdown to prevent COVID-19 outbreak starting from 12 am tonight, announced Panghsang disease control and prevention team on December 4.

Nyi Rang, Liansion Officer of UWSA in Lashio, confirmed the news about the lockdown in Panghsang.

A single Swab test will be taken across the town for all residents and people visiting the town for free, it said.

If people are not following the instructions guided by the respective authorities, heavy action will be taken against them, it said.

If an emergency case is occurred in the lockdown time, anyone can contact Panghsang Township police station for help and the date to revoke the lockdown will be notified, it said.

A total of 79,308 samples: 17,845 from Panghsang and 61,463 from Mongpauk District were tested from 11 am on January 3 to 11 am on January 4 in a self-administrative region, it said.

A total of 84 COVID-19 confirmed patients in a self-administrative region and no death is recorded. Medical experts from China and the disease control and prevention team are giving treatment to the patients and no patient with severe symptoms is found.
