UEC to conduct corruption perception survey this year

Union Election Commission plans to conduct a corruption perception survey this year, said Kyaw Soe, the spokesperson of  the Union Election Commission.

At the UEC’s office in Nay Pyi Taw on January 7, the UEC’s chair Aung Kyi discussed with Mr. Robert La Mont and party from Promoting Rule of Law in Myanmar (PRLM) of the USAID, a plan to conduct the corruption perception survey including the tasks to be done according to the Action Plan.

The UEC’s meeting with the USAID has nothing to do with the corruption perception survey. The USAID will conduct a separate survey. The USAID said the UEC can send the questionnaires which would support the UEC for the survey to be conducted by the USAID. I cannot reveal the detail facts about the survey, he continued.

The meeting also focused on the opening of branch offices in Yangon and Mandalay.

The UEC has got the land space and office building for the Yangon branch. Plan is under way to appoint staff for Yangon branch. The UEC has also got the land space for Mandalay branch.
