Two ministers from the Kayin State government have been allowed to resign of their own accord within a few days span, according to the President's Office.

The President's Office issued an order on May 23 allowing Kayin State Minister for Bamar Ethnic Affairs Tayza Htut Hlaing Htwe to resign of his own volition.

Likewise, Kayin State Minister for Social Affairs Dr Tin Win Kyaw was allowed to resign of his own accord on May 16.

Tayza Htut Hlaing Htwe could not be reached when contacted on May 24 morning.

During a press conference held at the state government office on May 23, Kayin State Chief Minister Nan Khin Htwe Myint told a reporter that he resigned because the demanded budget for construction of a Futsal football ground was not available.

State Minister for Mon Ethnic Affairs Min Tin Win said Tayza Htut Hlaing Htwe submitted his resignation letter directly to the President, not via the chief minister.

"This is beyond procedure. But he might have the reason to submit it directly," said Minister Min Tin Win.

Tayza Htut Hlaing Htwe became cabinet member after winning a seat in the 2015 election.

Dr Tin Win Kyaw resigned on grounds concerning his health.

As two ministers have resigned, the Kayin State government now has seven ministers.
