Tragic fire claims life of 14-year-old girl in Mandalay's Kantharyar neighborhood

In the early hours of March 2, a devastating fire engulfed a home in the Kantharyar ward of Chanmyatharzi Township, Mandalay. The Myanmar Fire Department reported that a 14-year-old girl tragically succumbed to smoke inhalation as flames tore through the residence.

According to fire officials, the blaze originated in an 8-foot-wide bedroom where a phone was plugged in. The home, situated on a 30 feet by 40 feet plot of land between 58th and 59th streets, faced extensive damage.

Responding swiftly to the emergency, ten fire engines, five water trucks, and three administrative vehicles, along with 30 auxiliary fire members, mobilized to combat the fire. Working tirelessly, they managed to bring the fire under control by 5:31 a.m. and completely extinguished it by 5:37 a.m.

The destructive force of the fire resulted in the loss of several structures, including a 30 feet by 40 feet house and the upper floor of a two-story building. Tragically, the young girl lost her life due to smoke inhalation in the bedroom where the fire originated.

Following the incident, the deceased girl was transported to Mandalay General Hospital by a car from a social assistance association. The community mourns the loss of a young life in this heartbreaking event.
