800 gallons of diesel lost in fuel tanker blaze, claims two lives and two missing

A fuel tanker caught fire in the Yangon River, resulting in the loss of approximately 800 gallons of diesel, the death of two sailors and the loss of two others, announced the information team of the State Administration Council (SAC).

According to a report that a ship was on fire in the Yangon River in Kyimyindine Township, Yangon Region on March 1 at around 2:20 am, the security forces carrying out security operations in the Yangon River visited the scene and fire extinguishing operations have been carried out.

In the incident, while Indra-6 was delivering 2,500 gallons of fuel to MV Thingaza, a fire explosion occurred on Indra-6. The fire was extinguished by the Natta-2 fire boat from the Inland Water Transport, and the fire was put out at around 3:25 am, according to the SAC.

Two sailors were killed and two are missing on the MV Thingaza vessel due to the explosion. The damage value of the Indra-6 vessel was eight million kyats and about 800 gallons of diesel was lost, according to the SAC.
