The Office of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services issued a statement on August 14, saying that ethnic NCA non-signatories should negotiate eternal peace in an effective manner without maximum delay during the extended period of ceasefire.

The statement said with the aim of ensuring the people to walk on a right democratic path, of modernizing and improving socio-economic status of the people and of ensuring remaining ethnic NCA non-signatories to conduct peace talks freely, Tatmadaw stopped its military activities in five military commands—the Northern Command, North-East Command, Eastern Command, Central-East Command, and Triangle Region Command—from December 21 to April 30 in 2019, May 1 to June 30 and July 1 to August 31 for three times.

Peace process including seeking a solution by a process of negotiation is weak in effectiveness during the extended ceasefire period and that the extension of ceasefire will come to a stop soon.

Therefore stakeholders taking part in the peace process ought to negotiate with the National Reconciliation and Peace Process (NRPC) and the Negotiation Team formed by Tatmadaw for eternal peace during the ceasefire period announced by Tatmadaw through firm conviction with the aim of upholding the interest of the State and its people.
