Supportive tasks to peace and stability, people’s needs should be taken into consideration in all tricky projects: State Counsellor

The supportive tasks to peace and stability of the State and the needs of the people should be taken into consideration in all projects that are tricky to achieve peace and stability, said State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi.

The remarks came from her speech to the meeting (1/2019) of National Planning Commission at the meeting hall of the Union Government in Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw on June 17.

National Sustainable Development Strategy for Myanmar has been laid down in a bid to improve socio-economic development for the State. The project includes four focal points, five objectives, 28 strategies and 251 procedures, said Aung San Suu Kyi.

All the projects the State is going to implement are aimed at being sustainable and ensuing equitable development. Only these projects must be chosen and carried out. The chosen projects must be strategic. Banking scrutinizing processes are need in choosing the project. In an effort to implement the project, past lessons should be reviewed and advantages should be improved. Weaknesses must be amended, said Aung San Suu Kyi.

The projects must be opted turning a blind eye to budget. More importantly, it is required to opt suitable and appropriate projects even though finance matters. I would like only the projects capable of contributing much toward prosperity of the people and the State to be chosen. Strategy is of importance in the process of implementing the national project so as to fulfill the needs of every sector of the State, said Aung San Suu Kyi.

Our country has been on the way to federal democratic Union. The national plan and regional projects must be connected with sustainable and equitable development ones hoping duties and authorities alongside responsibility and accountability, said Aung San Suu Kyi.

Difficulties and requirements that will be encountered in a bid to develop the State must be tackled with Union Spirit. Every sector needs closer cooperation. The collaboration between the central body and regional government is of great importance. Projects should be set up to be adaptable to climate change and new situations, said Aung San Suu Kyi.

Present at the meeting of National Planning Commission were President Win Myint, State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, Vice-Presidents Myint Swe and Hnery Van Thio, Vice-Chairmen of National Planning Commission, Union Ministers, the Union Chief Justice, the Union Attorney-General, the Union Auditor-General, the Chairman of Union Civil Service Board, the Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, the Chief Ministers of Regions and States, the Governor of Central Bank of Myanmar, the Chairmen of Self-Administered Regions and Regional Leading Bodies and responsible persons.
