The delegation members led by State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Chinese President Mr Xi Jinping held discussions at Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China on April 24, the State Counsellor Office reported.

Both sides focused on increased cooperation between Myanmar and China under the cooperation framework of Belt and Road, promotion of socio-economic life of the peoples of the two countries and bilateral mutual interest and cooperation, China’s continued assistance to be provided to Myanmar government that is making efforts in peace and national reconciliation, stability, peace and rule of law in the border region, continued measures for success of accepting displaced persons, matters relating to China’s continued support on Myanmar.

They also discussed continued bilateral cooperation in the international areas including the UN, promotion of various sectors such as tourism, news and information, culture, youth development to mark the 70th Anniversary of Founding Myanmar-China Diplomatic Relations in 2020 and China’s financial assistance of 1,000 million yuan  to be provided to Myanmar’s development and technological cooperation.

Accompanied by the State Counsellor were Union Ministers U Thant Sin Maung, U Win Khaing and U Kyaw Tin, Deputy Ministers U Aung Htoo and U Sett Aung, and other officials.

State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi departed for China from Nay Pyi Taw by flight on April 24 to attend the Second Belt and Road Forum at the invitation of Chinese President Mr. Xi Jinping.

The State Counsellor and delegation landed at Chang Shui International Airport in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, at 11:20am local standard time. They were welcomed by Yunnan’s Deputy Governor Mr. Zhang Guohua, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Hong Liang, the Myanmar Consul General based in Kunming and other officials.

The State Counsellor and delegation then left by special flight to Beijing and landed in Beijing International Airport at 2:45pm local time. They were welcomed by Mr. Cui Xinjian, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Beijing Municipal People’s Congress, Myanmar Ambassador to China U Thit Lwin Ohn and other officials.

State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi planned to pay a goodwill visit to Cambodia via China at the invitation of Prime Minister, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, according to the State Counsellor Office.
