All stakeholders are putting more efforts into organizing holding the fourth meeting of Union Peace Conference also known as the 21st Century Panglong Conference during 2019, said Colonel Sai Ngin, leader of Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAO) of the Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC).

The remarks came from Colonel Sai Ngin’s introductory speech of fifth social sector workshop of the ethnic NCA signatories at Mercure Hotel in Yangon from August 7 to 9.

The EAOs are trying to hold fourth meeting of Union Peace Conference during 2019, said Colonel Sai Ngin.

The work committee of social sector of the EAOs is required to make prior preparation for fundamentals and policies necessary for the social sector. The current three-day-long workshop is of significance and that the representatives of different organizations should meet in discussion of federal fundamentals, said Colonel Sai Ngin.

The current three-day-long workshop will focus on federal education related fundamentals and policies, the difference between the current education system and federal education system through ethnic national level political dialogues, said Colonel Sai Ngin.

Seeking ways to overcome crisis in education policy, combining peace with education, ethnic education and federal education, mother language-based teaching, and comparison of educational system formation will be discussed extensively together with the assistance of the scholars.

11 points are inclusive of 51-point Union Accord resulting from the previous meeting of Union Peace Conference also known as the 21st Century Panglong Conference. These eleven points include relocation, rehabilitation, social development, education, health, child affairs and narcotic drugs. We must try to reach the agreement, said Colonel Sai Ngin.

I believe that the current workshop can lay down principles as to federal education after overcoming difficulties and challenges. We will try to hold such-like workshop from time to time, said Colonel Sai Ngin

Ye Baw Myo Win, secretariat member of NCA-S EAO UPDJC, clarified the concerning matters to those present at the workshop after the introductory speech of Colonel Sai Ngin.
