COLOMBO ( The Island / ANN ) - The government said yesterday that the report of the Committee of Experts to restructure SriLankan Airlines would be implemented speedily.
This follows the Cabinet of Ministers approving the experts report presented by President Maithripala Sirisena on Tuesday and deciding that it be enforced immediately. The Committee headed by State Minister of Finance Eran Wickramaratne, included Non-Cabinet Minister Harsha de Silva, Nandalal Weerasinghe, Dharmarathna Herath, D.B.P.H.Disa Bandara, V.Kanagasabhapathi, L.S.I. Jayaratne, Viraj Dayaratne, Mahen Gopallawa, Wasantha Kumarasiri, Ajith Amarasekara and Thisuri Wanniarachchi.
The recommendations pertain to liquidation and re-establishment of SriLankan, the management agreement and debt restructuring and capital generation.
The report has called for identifying an independent board of directors and management, revision of project models, restructuring of human resources, establish an independent procurement process and seek cooperation in brand promotion.
