Spokesman of SAC: Vice-chairman of Central Bank is in good health

Deputy Minister for Ministry of Information Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun said that vice-chairman of Central Bank of Myanmar Bo Bo Nege is in good health and he is being detained at a Yeiktha.

He said in the press brief held at  Ministry of Information in Nay Pyi Taw on April 9 afternoon on the rumors concerning the death of vice-chairman of Central Bank of Myanmar Bo Bo Nege and confirmed that he is good health and being detained at the Yeiktha.

“He was neither in the prison nor in the detention center. He is at a shelter. State Administrative Council has detained those need to be detained and interrogated those need to be interrogated. But, if the people are not to be taken action in accordance with law, they are placed at safe places and being interrogated. The news of his death is not true. In these days, certain groups are circulating some news with intentions,” said Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun. He added that in his opinion, demonstrations are less and less these days and in order to increase the momentum of demonstrations, death of certain public figure was spread. 

He gave an example that when reporter Aung Thura from BBC was detained, certain fake news was spread. Now the news of the death of Bo Bo Nge was also spread on social media and there may be various intentions behind the rumor, he added.

Bo Bo Nge was arrested since the February 1 and no one knows he was charged with which action.  The news of his death was spread on social media page recently.
