SAC added Tiddin, Paletwa, Matupi and Hakha as disaster affected areas

Tiddin, Paletwa, Matupi and Hakha townships in Chin State, which was hit by Cyclone Mocha, have been declared disaster-prone areas, bringing the total to 21 townships, according to the announcement of the State Administration Council (SAC).

The extremely powerful Cyclone Mocha hit Myanmar on the evening of May 14. It was reported that it had crossed inland from near Paletwa town, Chin State. The SAC has announced that Tiddin, Paletwa, Matupi and Hakha townships in Chin State, which suffered damage due to the extremely strong cyclone Mocha, have been declared as natural disaster areas under Section 11 of the Natural Disaster Management Law.

On May 15, the SAC declared 17 townships in Rakhine State as natural disaster areas, which were hit by Cyclone Mocha.

Kyaukpyu, Manaung, Rambre, An, Sittway, Pauktaw, Ponnakyun, Yathedaung, Gwa, Tounggup, Thandwe, Maungdaw, Buthidaung, Kyauktaw, Minya, MraukU and Myebon townships were declared as natural disaster areas under Section 11 of the Natural Disaster Management Law, according to the statement.

The Cyclone Mocha crossed inland near Sittway, Rakhine State on May 14, with wind speeds of over 100 mph, and storm surges also entered land, causing a lot of damage in Rakhine State.
