“Our Yangon Region has followed the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Sports and we are now very worried about a new mutation of COVID-19. The Minister for Health also urges us from the Yangon Region to be aware of the third wave and not to fall under it. Since the mutated virus has now spread to some western and Asian countries, and the infection rate is very high, we have to pay special attention to the virus. Public have to follow preventive measures such as wear masks and face shields, wash hands and abide by social distancing rules. By following these rules, we can protect our country from COVID third wave,” said Dr. Tun Myint from Yangon Region Department of Public Health.

Those coming with relief flights whether they are coming from the UK, USA, Japan, Korea or India have to go under quarantine, he added.
